Trauma-Informed Therapy for Couples and Relationships in NYC

Virtual therapy available throughout New York and New Jersey.

Therapy for couples who are tired of feeling worn thin in their relationship.

Person with long brown hair, wearing a denim jacket, standing in front of a house with two colorful doors, one blue and one red, and two window doors with black metal details, surrounded by green bushes.

Does this sound familiar?

"I love this person, so why does being close to them feel so difficult?"

"Something keeps going wrong in my relationships, and I don't understand why."

"I don't want to lose this relationship, but I don't know how to make it work."

"Why do small things between us become such big things?"

"Why do I pull away when I actually want closeness?"

"Why do I keep replaying the conversation in my head?"

"I want love to feel easier than this."

You don't have to keep figuring this out alone. Therapy can help you understand your relationships and create new ways of connecting with yourself and with the people you love.

Always trying to get it right and never feeling good enough is exhausting

On the outside, you look like you have it together. But on the inside, something just doesn't feel quite right. You've been stuck in the same place in your relationship for so long that the relationship, itself, has become activating and you find yourself reaching for other things to soothe the pain. You may be gaining weight, lying awake at night just thinking about the relationship, or constantly doubting yourself and replaying conversations.

You’re waiting for that moment when someone pulls away. The fear that they will leave lingers in the back of your head like an itch you can’t scratch and you find yourself doing whatever it takes to maintain the connection. Trying to get it right and never feeling good enough.

And it keeps happening. Different person, same experience. Another relationship that leaves you asking the question: what is wrong with me?

But there's nothing wrong with you. You're just stuck in a cycle that no one ever taught you how to name, let alone change. It’s hard to not feel like everyone has figured out something you missed. If you are ready to look at what’s underneath the pain and create the fulfilling relationships you deserve, then you’re in the right place.

Hi, I’m Jem

I am so glad you found your way here.

A woman with long black hair wearing glasses and a light blue shirt, standing in front of green bushes, smiling gently.

I help adults and couples who are tired of feeling spent in their relationships get their life back. My approach goes deeper than the symptoms, in order to help you heal your relationships and feel close again.

Together, we can explore the cycle you keep getting pulled into: the moments when one person reaches and the other withdraws, when vulnerability turns into defensiveness, when old wounds get activated, or when you both end up feeling misunderstood, rejected, or alone.

My role isn’t to take sides, assign blame, or give you a formula for the “right” relationship. It’s to help you understand each other more deeply, communicate what is often difficult to say, repair what has been hurt, and create new ways of relating that feel more secure, intimate, and alive.

I blend together relational and systemic therapy, trauma and body-based work, mindfulness and breath work that draws from the advanced trainings and certifications that I've learned over years of practice and study. Rather than fitting your relationship into a particular framework, I bring these approaches together in response to who you both are, what's happening between you, and the patterns that may be getting in the way of the closeness you're both reaching for.

  • You want to deepen desire, intimacy, and romance

  • You're rebuilding trust and connection after relationship ruptures or infidelity

  • You're navigating what it means when emotional closeness and sexual desire don't always align

  • You're navigating complex relationships, communication, or non-traditional structures

  • You're ready to heal relationship patterns, attachment wounds, and trauma that keep repeating

  • You want to feel more connected, and to live from who you actually are

  • You're managing mental health and noticing how it shows up between you and the people you love

Who I work with:

You don’t have to figure it out all on your own anymore.

This all resonates, now what?

The next step is to reach out below for a free consult and see if it’s right for you.

We’ll start with a low-pressure conversation about what’s been coming up in your relationships and what you want to shift. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide from there. There’s no commitment, pressure, or obligation. Just a conversation.
